The rental calendar doesn’t appear on my product page
If customers can’t see the date picker on a rental product, work through these checks in order:Is the product set up as a rental?
Is the product set up as a rental?
A product only shows the calendar once it’s been added as a rental. Go to Shopify Admin → Circuly Rental & Subscriptions → Rentals → Inventory → Add a rental product and add this product.
Does the product have a pricing template assigned?
Does the product have a pricing template assigned?
The calendar needs a pricing template to calculate prices. Open the rental product and confirm a pricing template is assigned. If you don’t have one yet, create it under Rentals → Pricing.
Is the rental calendar block added to your theme?
Is the rental calendar block added to your theme?
The calendar is added to your product page through the Shopify Theme Editor. Confirm the rental calendar block is placed on the product template assigned to this product. See Theme Extension Setup for instructions.
”Couldn’t set up this product” when adding a rental product
If you see this error while adding a rental product, the variant’s stock settings are blocking it:The variant is set to stop selling when out of stock
The variant is set to stop selling when out of stock
This happens when the product variant has Shopify inventory tracking turned on with Stop selling when out of stock. The Rental Engine manages availability through its own calendar, so this setting conflicts with rental setup. To fix it, open the product in Shopify and either turn off Track quantity for that variant, or change it to Continue selling when out of stock. Then try adding the rental product again. See Rental inventory model for more on how rental stock works.
No public holidays are blocked for my country
If your rental calendar lets customers book on national holidays:Your country isn't pre-seeded
Your country isn't pre-seeded
Public holidays are only pre-loaded for a set of countries: the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Other countries start with no holidays blocked. To block holidays for your country, add them as manual blackout dates under Rentals → Blackouts. See Blackouts and holidays.
A customer was charged and then automatically refunded
If a customer reports a charge that was reversed shortly after:A rare booking conflict was auto-resolved
A rare booking conflict was auto-resolved
In rare cases, two customers secure the same units for overlapping dates at almost the same moment. When that happens, the system honours the first booking and automatically refunds the line it can’t fulfil, so the second customer is never left paying for a rental they can’t receive. No action is needed — the refund is issued automatically. See Cancellations and refunds for details.
I can’t create a rental product — no pricing template available
If the rental product setup won’t let you continue because there’s no pricing template to choose:Create a pricing template first
Create a pricing template first
Every rental product needs a pricing template before it can be set up. Create one under Rentals → Pricing, then return to add your rental product. See Pricing templates.
A booking is holding stock but the customer never paid
If units appear reserved even though no rental was paid for:Held cart bookings expire on their own
Held cart bookings expire on their own
When a customer adds rental dates to their cart, the units are held as a booking while they check out. If they don’t pay, that held booking expires after the cart timeout (30 minutes by default) and the units are released automatically.
Admin-created bookings must be cancelled manually
Admin-created bookings must be cancelled manually
Bookings you create yourself from the admin don’t expire automatically. If one is no longer needed, cancel it manually to release the units. See Booking flow.
