What is a pricing template?

A rental pricing template is a reusable set of rates and timing rules that decides what a customer pays to rent a product. Instead of pricing each product one by one, you define the rates once in a template and then assign that template to as many products and variants as you like. Because templates are shared, a single template — for example Mountain bike pricing — can cover a whole fleet of products. Update the template once and every product using it picks up the new rates on future bookings.

Reusable

Define rates once and reuse the same template across many products and variants.

Fleet-friendly

One template can price an entire fleet — assign Mountain bike pricing to every bike you rent.

Daily, weekly, monthly

Set a base daily rate and optional weekly and monthly rates for longer rentals.

Timing rules built in

Each template carries its own lead time, turnaround buffer, and booking horizon.
You manage templates under Shopify AdminCirculy Rental & SubscriptionsRentalsPricing.

Create a pricing template

1

Open the pricing page

Go to Shopify AdminCirculy Rental & SubscriptionsRentalsPricing, then click New template. (If you have no templates yet, use the New template button on the empty state.)
2

Name the template (Basic info)

Enter a Template name you’ll recognise later, such as Mountain bike pricing or Premium e-bike pricing. This name is how you’ll find and assign the template across your products.
3

Set the timing rules

In the Timing section, define when and how far ahead this product can be booked:
4

Set the rates (Pricing)

In the Pricing section, enter your rates:
The weekly and monthly rates are optional tiers. If you leave them blank, longer rentals are simply priced from the base daily rate, so you only need to set them when you want to offer a discount for longer periods.
5

Save

Click Save. On the template page you’ll see a Rate preview showing what a 7-day and 30-day rental would cost, plus a Usage count of how many products currently use this template.
A product can’t go on rent without a pricing template. Until a template is assigned, customers have no rates to be charged and the product won’t be bookable as a rental.

Assign a template to products

You don’t assign rates on the template itself — you pick a template when you set up a rental product. This happens in the rental setup wizard, in step 3 Pricing & inventory, where you choose the Pricing template that should apply to that product. Because templates are reusable, the same template can be assigned to many products. Set up each product through the wizard and pick the same template to price your whole fleet identically — there’s no need to recreate the rates.

Set up a rental product

Walk through the rental setup wizard, including choosing the product, setting capacity, and assigning a pricing template.
The link between a product and its template is managed for you automatically — you only ever pick the template you want. To change which template a product uses, reopen that product from the rental inventory page and choose a different one.
Editing a template’s rates applies to future bookings on every assigned product. Bookings already placed keep the pricing they were created with.
